Safely learn the basics of Olympic style archery in this guided archery program taught by a certified archery instructor.

Learn the basics of Olympic style archery in this guided program. Ranger Joel, the park's certified archery instructor trainer will teach archery and range safety, how to use a string bow, the parts of a compound bow, and will then guide participants through learning to shoot the bow at static targets. This program does require a reservation and is limited to youth ages 7 through 18. There will be a session from 9:00 - 11:00am for ages 12-18 and a second program from 1:00pm - 3:00pm for ages 7-11.  For safety, each session is limited to 10 youth participants, so reserve your spot early. A parent or adult guardian must be present during the program for any participants ages 10-12. Youth ages 13-18 can attend without a guardian present, but must check in with a guardian who is legally permitted to sign a waiver of liability, and the guardian must stay in the park during the program. The guardian must provide a valid cell number during the sign-in process. This will ensure we can contact the guardian if the program ends early, or needs to be cancelled due to weather or another safety related issue.

To make your reservation contact Ranger Joel Janssen at joel.janssen@tpwd.texas.gov, or by calling 936.327.1916. Your reservation is not valid until you receive written or verbal confirmation from Ranger Joel. The archery range will open up to private groups that have a certified archery instructor and their own gear by reservation only. Details on reserving the range for a private group can be obtained by emailing Ranger Joel at the email address above.

We recommend bringing a bottle of water and wearing comfortable, flat shoes when participating in any activity. Restrooms are available at the Headquarters, Activity Center, Marina, and in each camping loop. Leashed pets welcome!

Regular park admission fees of $6 per adult ages 13 and up apply; no additional charge for activities. No reservations necessary.
