Fishing Knots to Know!
9 am at Sunset Marina Fishing Pier.

Learn one of the best and easiest fishing knots during this brief hands-on lesson.

Knots are essential for camping, survival, fishing, and many other outdoor activities.  Join Ranger Joel to learn one of the most basic and easiest fishing knots. This will be a hands-on activity appropriate for most older children, although some may need help from their parent or guardian.  Adults are welcome to join in.

Backyard Bass Fishing Game
11 am at Sunset Marina Fishing Pier

Learn to cast with Backyard Bass, a lawn fishing game. Rangers will demonstrate the use of a spincast reel, then participants will try to hook fish of varying difficulty.  No hooks are involved, so it's safe for all ages.

Fishing with a Ranger
2 pm at Sunset Marina Fishing Pier

Join park rangers for fishing!

Rangers will be on hand at Sunset Marina Park Store inside Lake Livingston State Park throughout this time frame to help bait hooks, rig tackle, and teach the basics of fishing. Bait and tackle is provided, and limited quantities of loaner fishing poles will be available.

Regular park admission fees of $6 per adult ages 13 and up apply; no additional charge for activities.  No reservations necessary.

This is one of many 100-year celebration events happening in Texas state parks this year. Entry to a park is free on the day it hosts an official 100-Year celebration event (applies to day passes only). Guarantee entry by reserving your free day pass up to one month before this special event.
