🎉 Start 2026 outdoors at Birch Creek! Kick off the New Year with self-guided activities! First Day Hikes is a nationwide program encouraging outdoor fun and it’s also the first day of the U.S.’s 250th birthday!
🕘 Self-Guided Activities: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Birch Creek Headquarters
Activities You Can Enjoy:
- Nature Journaling – slow down, observe, and record your surroundings (journals not provided)
- Bird Watching – pick up a bird checklist at headquarters and bring binoculars
- Self-Guided Hikes – choose a trail that fits your pace and time
Trail Hike Suggestions
Easy: Honeybee Hill Trail – 0.4 miles
Moderate: Wilderness Run plus Sunset Trail – 2.2 miles
Challenging: Lake Somerville Trailway (Birch Creek segment) – 4 to 5 miles
💡 Tips: Dress for the current weather, wear comfortable shoes, and bring water.
