PARK CLOSED - Youth Deer Hunt

Lake Tawakoni State Park will be closed to the public (including the boat ramp and all trails) for our Youth Only Deer Hunt beginning at 12PM on October 24, 2025. Only preapproved hunters and staff will be permitted on the park during that time. The park will reopen at 12PM on October 27, 2025.

Lake Tawakoni State Park will be closed to the public (including the boat ramp and all trails) for our Youth Only Deer Hunt beginning at 12PM on October 24, 2025. Only preapproved hunters and staff will be permitted on the park during that time. The park will reopen at 12PM on October 27, 2025.

This hunt is an important Natural Resource management tool that helps keep target species populations under control. We hope to reduce competitive pressure on the park’s deer herd, as well as reduce or stop habitat destruction and alteration. These hunts will also help to instill a love of nature and a strong foundation of safe and ethical hunting practices for budding Outdoor Texans.
