A flutter of color awaits! Join us for Painted Wings at Lake Whitney State Park, a colorful, family-friendly educational program to learn all about our native butterflies. Learn about the fascinating life cycles, habits, and local species of these delicate pollinators.

Participants will enjoy a light walk or hike along the beautiful Two Bridges Trail, stopping at designated butterfly signs along the way. At each stop, you’ll discover fun facts about our local butterfly species — and using your smartphone, you can scan QR codes to watch (1–3 minute) short videos that bring each butterfly’s story to life.

This event is ideal for families, children, and anyone curious about pollinators, art, and the beauty of the outdoors.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent
  • Hat or sunglasses for sun protection
  • Cell phone or camera to capture the beauty

Don’t forget: Be sure to sign our sign-up sheet at the main trailhead entrance. We’d love to hear what you thought of the program!

We’d love to see your weekend photos so share them with us on Facebook!
