FREE: Lockhart State Park Open House & 4-H Kickoff

Join us at Lockhart State Park for an event full of FREE family-friendly fun! Drop in any time between 9am-11:30am.
- Learn about wildlife, water, and more at our educational booths.
- Meet some snakes up close!
- Make a bird feeder.
- Try fishing! (Meet at the dam.)
- Discover all 4-H has to offer.
- Meet local Scouting America Troop 109 & girl Troop 1109 and our local Girl Scout Service Unit.
- Tour a Texas Parks and Wildlife helicopter and meet the pilot. Please Note: if you want to stick around and watch the helicopter take off after the event, please wait behind the cones (at the picnic tables). After the event is over, and as soon as everyone is a safe distance from the helicopter, it will take off (at approximately 11:50am).
- Explore the park with guided hikes at 9:30am and 10:30am. Both hikes meet at the Clear Fork Trailhead. The topic of each hike is below (& click the link for more info):
This event is for everyone (whether you’re affiliated with 4-H or not), so bring your family! All ages welcome. Drop in any time between 9am-11:30am.
Prepare: Dress for the weather and bring water. No registration required.
Meet: The helicopter and booths will take place in the picnic area of the park. If driving from park HQ, pass the pool and take your first right-hand turn into the picnic area parking lot. The hikes will start at the Clear Fork Trailhead (adjacent to the picnic area) at 9:30am and 10:30am. Fishing will take place at the dam, which is right next to the Clear Fork Trailhead.
Fees: This event is FREE for all attendees. When you check-in at Park HQ, simply tell them that you are here for the open house to gain free admission to the park & event.
