FREE: 4-H Kickoff & Open House

Join us at Lockhart State Park for an event full of FREE family-friendly fun!
- Learn about wildlife, water, and more at our educational booths.
- Meet some snakes up close.
- Explore all 4-H has to offer.
- Learn about 4-H Grants from Capital Farm Credit.
- Climb inside a Texas Parks and Wildlife helicopter and meet the pilot.
- Get a glimpse of the park with guided hikes at 9:30am and 10:30am. At 9:30am, experience the Bug-Eat-Bug world of Lockhart State Park with a Texas Master Naturalist. At 10:30am, discover the rich history of Lockhart State Park with Ranger Lauren. Both hikes meet at the Clear Fork Trailhead.
This event is for everyone (whether you’re affiliated with 4-H or not), so bring your family! All ages welcome. Drop in any time between 9am-12pm.
Prepare: Dress for the weather and bring water. No registration required.
Meet: The helicopter and booths will take place in the picnic area of the park. If driving from park HQ, pass the pool and take your first right-hand turn into the picnic area parking lot. The hikes will start at the Clear Fork Trailhead (adjacent to the picnic area) at 9:30am and 10:30am.
Fees: This event is FREE for all attendees. When you check-in at Park HQ, simply tell them that you are here for the open house to gain free admission to the park & event.
