Come join the park interpreter for a morning hike along our older trails! Bring water and bug spray as we hike the Olen Matchett Trail and discuss the park's cultural and natural history.

Mission Tejas State Park is full of fascinating history and diverse wildlife. Come join us early in the day to beat the worst of the summer heat and take a guided hike with a ranger through some of our most historic trails.

The trails we will be hiking on do have some elevation, going up and down some slopes and stairs. The park interpreter will adapt the pace of the walk depending on the needs of the attendants. Tentative return time is around 10:30 AM but may be sooner or later as events warrant.

Where: Participants will meet at the historic Rice Family Log Home after checking in at HQ. Log Home is an easy walk from the HQ or participants can drive down the road to the Log Home parking area just past HQ on the right road.

When: Park interpreter will meet participants at Rice Family Log Home around 8:30 AM for pre-hike presentation.

Cost: Regular admission into the park. $3/person, children 12 and under are free and admittance is free for any holders of a Texas State Parks Pass.

What to Bring: Bring drinking water for yourself and yours; HQ has water fountains and a bottle-filler at the restrooms. Bring insect repellant/bug spray. For any birders, binoculars are encouraged as the park interpreter may add stops for wildlife identification (situation dependent). Wear clothes for outdoor walking.
