History with a Ranger - The Spanish and the Caddo
Sat, October 26, 2024
Come to Mission Tejas for an educational program and short hike about some of our historic structures and the interactions between the Spanish and Caddo people.
Mission Tejas is a place where different cultures meet, and worlds collide. Come to an educational program with a park ranger at the commemorative mission and take a short hike to a section of the centuries old El Camino Real as we learn about the Spanish soldiers and missionaries that came here and the Caddo people that farmed and lived here for generations.
The program will start at the Mission and will lead down to the park's section of the El Camino Real: the ancient road that laid the groundwork for traffic in and out of the area for hundreds of years.
The hike will be a short walk (just over half a mile) down to our Nabedache Loop and back to the Mission. The trail has a slight slope to it and may be a bit rough at spots.
Where: The commemorative mission in the heart of Mission Tejas State Park.
When: Oct. 26 @ 2 PM.
Cost: Regular Admission into the park is $3/person. Kids 12 and under are free, as well as carriers of a valid Texas State Parks Pass.
