Come learn the basics of freshwater fishing!

Fishing can be complicated, or not! Come out to learn the basics of fishing including learning the easiest fishing knots, setting up your line, and how to cast. We'll have different types of rods and reels to show you, but feel free to bring your own as well!

While we won't be fishing in the river, we'll demonstrate common fish you might find here and help you to learn how to ID them.

  • Meet at the Falls Overflow Parking Lot to join at 10am.
  • No equipment needed to participate, but you may bring your own if you'd like to learn more about the type of gear you have.
  • RSVP to Stephen.Garmon@tpwd.texas.gov if you would like to participate. Walk-up participants are welcome as well. Child and Dog friendly (Dogs must remain on leash)
  • Dress for the weather, we'll be in an open field with little shade.
  • Program will go on for around an hour. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian during the program.
