First Day Hike - Hackenburg Loop

It's your first hike of the year! Start it off along a river!

Start the new year off right with your first hike!

Join us on a guided hike of Hackenburg Loop, one of our most scenic trails along the Pedernales River. This area sports giant cypress and sycamore trees, as well as massive boulders, deep pools of water, and a good chance of seeing wildlife. At the end of the hike we'll reach Pedernales Falls, and we'll let you loose to explore on your own, or you could follow us back to the parking lot.

• Meet at the Falls parking lot to join in.
• This hike is about 1.5 miles long, and starts off very level, then about half-way it turns to rough and rugged terrain with large rocks, roots, and sand. Some steep surfaces.
• Wear comfortable shoes for hiking on rough surfaces, and weather appropriate clothing.
• Child- and dog-friendly if they can make it 1.5 miles.
• Normal entrance fees required to enter the park, no additional fees to attend this hike!
