First Day Hike at South Llano River State Park!
Thu, January 01, 2026
Start your New Year off at South Llano River State Park with a guided hike through the beautiful pecan bottomland!
Spend the very first day of the new year outdoors with friends and family, enjoying nature and being active! Bring the whole family to celebrate the start of a new year and also celebrate the year the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence!
We would love for everyone to wear red, white, and blue to celebrate this special milestone. Participants will receive a First Day Hike sticker after the event!
Hike Information: We will be walking the River Trail, with a stop at Buck Lake. The entire loop is about 1.3 miles and does not include any steep inclines or declines.
Where: We will meet at the first day use parking lot. Look for the green Park Program flags to know you're in the right place!
Bring: water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes (while the trail is an easy hike, there may still be some small holes or rocks along the way), weather appropriate clothes, and bug spray
Cost: Free with park admission, and park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. On busy weekends, reserve your day use pass early online! Please note: Be sure you have a day pass purchased for everyone attending.
