Join educators from the San Felipe de Austin Historic Site and Texas Historic Commission for a historical presentation!
This presentation will cover a few of the many enslaved and free black citizens living in San Felipe de Austin, 200 years ago. These citizens many different contributions to the town and legacy still last in our modern town of San Felipe today. The presentation will also discuss the complex laws surrounding slavery in Mexican Texas which kept enslavement legal in Texas, but abolished elsewhere in Mexico.
