First Day Hike: Let's Ring in 2026!

Begin the New Year with a healthy dose of nature and start a new tradition at Stephen F. Austin State Park!
Join us for a guided First Day Hike through the park’s beautiful bottomland forest. This easy, 1- to 1.5-mile hike over mostly flat terrain is a great way to welcome 2026 with fresh air, scenic views, and a bit of movement. Along the way, you’ll learn about the local flora, fauna, and the natural history of this unique Texas ecosystem.
Meet at the Amphitheater
What to Bring:
- Comfortable hiking shoes
- Water
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Camera (for stunning nature shots)
Please Note: There are no restrooms at the amphitheater or along the trail. Please plan accordingly before the hike begins.
Cost: Included with daily entrance fee. Adults are $5 per person. Children 12 and under are free. Park admission is free with a Texas Parks Pass.
Special Feature: All participants will receive a First Day Hike Sticker to commemorate your adventure.
