Explore the trails at Stephen F. Austin State Park with a ranger and earn your Junior Ranger badge.
Take a hike, make wildlife observations, use magnifiers to search for decomposers, and learn to Leave No Trace as we complete activities that will result in young rangers being sworn in as Texas State Parks Junior Rangers. We’ll walk about one mile and work together on activities in our journals. This activity is best for 6-12 year-olds. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.
Registration is NOT required, but please arrive on time. Late arrivals may be asked to take a self-guided hike and do the Junior Ranger activities on their own.
- Meet: RV Loop Restrooms.
- Time: 1:30-3:00 PM
- Dress for hiking outdoors, in layers that can be added or removed as the weather changes. Comfortable close-toed shoes, sunscreen, bug spray and a hat are recommended. Bring at least 2 liters of water per person and a snack.
This program is included with the purchase of a Daily Entrance pass. Adults are $5 per person, Children 12 and under are no charge. Texas State Park Pass holders admitted free of charge!
The program is weather-dependent and subject to cancellation.
