Little River-San Gabriel Turkey Update Meeting
Fri, October 25, 2024
Granger Lake USACE Office
3100 Granger Dam Road
Granger, Tx 76530
Join biologists as they discuss turkey management and provide an updates on an active turkey restoration project in Central Texas.
A hundred years ago, turkeys almost disappeared from Texas due to unregulated hunting and loss of habitat. Now, thanks to hunter and landowner support, bag limits and a restocking program, Texas has some of the highest densities in the country.
Robust turkey populations do not occur statewide, however. It takes continued management that impacts available habitat and annual harvest.
This meeting will cover the general habitat needs of wild turkey, and provide updates on the ongoing turkey restoration project that started in Bell, Milam and Williamson Counties earlier this year.
Join us at Granger Lake and let's talk turkey!
