Jun 12, 2024
GOOD. Water stained; 75 degrees; 49.41 feet below pool. Limited launching at the Zapata County boat ramp, there is no boat access from Arroyo Valeño to the main river channel. Catfish are excellent with keeper to 35 pound fish on fresh cut bait with a Kentucky rig. Smaller catfish are good on stink bait, fish bites, and small cuts of fresh bait. Crappie are slow. Largemouth bass are excellent for numbers with a few trophy sized fish in the mix. Target hard bottoms with shad or tilapia patterned crankbaits, soft plastics, and dropshots. Gar bow fishing is excellent in Arroyo Valeño and on the main lake. Gar rod-and-reel is good in 3-5 feet of water on fresh cut carp and tilapia. Report by Ram Reyes, Ram Outdoors.
