Buchanan Fishing Report
- Jul 2, 2025
- EXCELLENT. Water slight stain; 85 degrees; 17.47 feet below pool. Water is muddy north to mid lake and stained on the south end. Stripers continue to bite on live shad in 9-45 feet of water. You will have to move around and monitor the oxygen levels in the water as the thermocline has been up and down and will kill your baits if you do not check often. The trolling bite for stripers has been good and will keep you busy catching undersized fish. Some sporadic topwater activity continues to be intermittent. Report by Travis Holland, TH Fishing. The north continues to be stained. Hybrids and stripers are hitting umbrella rigs and downrigging in 15-30 feet of water. The best bite was on live bait in 30-50 feet of water over sand points and trees. The trolling bite is fair. Some white bass and hybrid topwater action in the morning and midday. Catfish can be targeted on main lake points. Report by Captain Aaron Dick, One Up Fishing Guide Service. After catching some water bass are shallow over rocks in 5-15 feet of water throwing crankbaits, swimbaits, frogs or soft plastics such as flukes, worms and craw worms. Topwaters will get some big bites as well. Look for schools of white bass, hybrids and stripers to chase bait around the points and humps. Throwing moving baits like crankbaits and jerkbaits will get a lot of bites from those and largemouth as well. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs. Crappie are fair in 20-25 feet of water on brush piles and standing timber with minnows. Catfish are excellent in 20-25 feet of water suspended in trees with shad. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Anticipate increased boater traffic this weekend as we celebrate our Nation’s Independence Day.
