HAAP iNaturalist Project
Join the RACA iNaturalist project.Submit photos of your catch while visiting/paddling Texas Parks and Wildlife's HAAP Leased Access sites and contribute to our goal of increasing opportunities for bank, wade, and kayak angling and sustainable paddling activities.
Follow these steps to ensure your observations are uploaded to the project:
- Set up an iNaturalist account: If you do not already have an iNaturalist account, you can create one by downloading the app or using the website and following the instructions. Once you have your account ready to go, you can use the app in various ways.
- Join our project: In the app or website, search TPWD's "Habitat and Angler Access Citizen Science Project" and click to join.
- Trust the project: On the project's main page, select the 'Your Membership' icon. You can then choose if you'd like to receive project journal notifications, trust the project with hidden coordinates, and learn more about trusting projects. Granting access to your observations' coordinates will allow your observation to be automatically uploaded to the project and improve analysis and population assessments. These coordinates can only be viewed by the project manager, Madison Darwish, Leased Fishing Access Biologist.
- How to upload an observation for this project: In the app, click the observe icon, select and add your photo. Next, you'll click What do you see? and select the species that best matches your observation. Once you share/upload, the observation should be automatically added to the project. If you are uploading on your desktop, click the upload button at the top right of the screen and follow the prompts. Please include which Leased Access site you used during your fishing trip.
