Mentored Hunting Workshops
Public Hunting in Texas 2019-2020

Select state parks and wildlife management areas (WMA) conduct mentored hunting workshops designed to educate and introduce beginning hunters and their mentors to the hunting experience. These workshops are followed by a hunt on the area.

The required Mentored Hunting Permits (MHP) for these workshops are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. MHPs are only valid for a specific public hunt during the mentored hunt workshop and for the corresponding workshop dates.

To participate in a designated hunt with a MHP, you must first complete the mandatory mentored hunting workshop and become authorized by Texas Parks & Wildlife to participate in hunting activities and are accompanied by a designated mentor.

Cost: a $25 fee is required for the workshop and the hunt. This includes the workshop and the hunt for the hunter and the mentor.
