All adult hunters must possess a current Annual Public Hunting Permit (APH) to apply.
Boat Access Only - by crossing Choke Canyon Reservoir; see attached brochure for important details. Hunting will be limited to specific areas as identified by staff during orientation. Some adjacent areas accessible only by boat or significant hiking by foot; hunters should take this into consideration before applying for this hunt. Hunt runs concurrently with James E. Daughtrey Hunt. All hunters and standby applicants must attend a mandatory orientation at 11:00 AM at the James E. Daughtrey checkstation on the first day of the hunt. Hunt ends at noon on the last day. Hunters must complete daily electronic on-site registration (eOSR). Note the methods restrictions; no centerfire rifles or pistols allowed. No night hunting. Hunter orange hat and vest is required at all times regardless of hunt method.
Hunt Method
Entire Area ; Boats should be large enough to cross Choke Canyon Reservoir in windy conditions. Hunters may access hunt area from a boat at all times throughout the hunt period provided that boats are launched from public boat ramps (refer to hunt brochure).
