Before hunting drawn hunters must attend the one and only mandatory hunter orientation at Alazan Bayou WMA headquarters at 3:00 pm on the first day of the hunt period. After orientation you will be taken to your hunt area to familiarize yourself and set decoys. Hunting will occur on the 2nd and 3rd days of your hunt period. NOTE: No latecomers will be accepted on E-postcard Waterfowl Hunts. Hunters that do not arrive by the 3:00 p.m. mandatory orientation will forfeit their position on the hunt. No exceptions will be made.

Hunt locations will be assigned at the orientation and hunters will be allowed to hunt the Saturday and Sunday mornings following the orientation. Hunt compartments vary in size and are flooded with water depths ranging from 6"-18". Temporary blinds may be erected; however, any man-made material must be removed prior to the end of the hunt. The area exists almost entirely within the Trinity River floodplain and is subject to prolonged periods of extensive flooding that may require cancellation of hunts on short notice.
