Open except for drawn hunts in Fall and Winter. Please call ahead when planning to visit during hunting season.

Daily On-site Registration is required of all visitors. General public access to the area is during daylight hours through designated legal entry points only and by Annual Public Hunting or Limited Public Use Permits.

Viewing wildlife is an enjoyable activity that is available in many of the Wildlife Management Areas of Texas.
Wildlife Viewing on the Gus Engeling WMA
The Gus Engeling WMA has a rich variety of wildlife. Currently, 37 mammals, 156 birds, 54 reptiles and amphibians, and 57 fish species have been documented. The observant visitor may see white-tailed deer, wild turkey, gray squirrel, fox squirrel, raccoon, beaver, wood duck or pileated woodpecker just to name a few.
