Daily On-site Registration is required of all visitors. General public access to the area is during daylight hours through designated legal entry points only and by Annual Public Hunting or Limited Public Use Permits.

General Access
All visitors on the Gus Engeling Wildlife Management Area, must have the required permits, stamps and license and must register with the On-Site Registration paper form at the Information Station. Non-hunting visitors may not have a firearm, archery equipment, crossbow or other device for harvesting wildlife on the WMA. Harvesting wildlife is allowed during designated hunts and hunters must have proper permits and license and stamps. Visitors are not allowed in restricted areas on the WMA; these areas are marked on the WMA map or with signage.

Visitors may not be under the influence of alcohol or consume alcoholic beverages while engaged in hunting activities or publicly consume or display an alcoholic beverage while on the WMA.
Potable water and restrooms are available at the WMA campground.
Permits Required
The Annual Public Hunting Permit allows visitors 17 years of age and older access to WMA designated public hunting areas for E-Postcard drawn hunts. An APH is not needed for drawn Special Permit deer hunts. Drawn hunts on the WMA are conducted by the Texas Public Drawn Hunt System. The Limited Public Use Permit allows an adult to enter the WMA to bird watch, hike, fish, bike, etc. on the WMA; but they may not hunt nor have firearms or archery equipment.
