Wildlife Viewing

Wildlife Viewing Permitted

Viewing wildlife is an enjoyable activity that is available in many of the Wildlife Management Areas of Texas.

The Lower Rio Grande Valley is generally regarded as one of the great birding locations in the world. The habitat and climate conditions of the Las Palomas WMA units provides an environment attractive to local birds, birds of North American species and birds passing through along the Central Flyway from North American to South America. Units of the Las Palomas WMA provide habitat for approximately 19 threatened and endangered species, including bald eagles, American peregrine falcons, brown pelicans, jaguarondis, ocelots and several kinds of sea turtles. Check with the Las Palomas WMA manager to locate the many wildlife viewing opportunities the 23 Las Palomas WMA units have to offer.

This Wildlife Management Area is one of many wildlife viewing sites along THE GREAT TEXAS COASTAL BIRDING TRAIL.
