Events

Join us for our semi-annual Field Day and tour of the Kerr WMA at the Lee and Ramona Bass Conference Facility on October 5, 2018 starting at 9:00 am.

This free, all-day event will include information on historical accounts of the Texas Hill Country and the Kerr WMA along with ecosystems management and taking a holistic approach to land improvement. The program will also include a summary of past and present deer research, over 40 years, from the Donnie E. Harmel White-tailed Deer Research Pens; an update on the status of feral hogs; a look at different survey techniques for deer and an overview of TPWD programs and how they can help you! A field tour of our WMA and research facilities will follow the classroom portion of the day.

Directions

The Kerr WMA is located about 80 miles northwest of San Antonio, in Kerr County at the headwaters of the North Fork of the Guadalupe River. Take IH 10 to Kerrville and turn west (south) on SH 16 and connect with SH 27 on the south side of Kerrville. Turn right on SH 27 heading toward Ingram about seven miles. In Ingram connect to SH 39 going west another seven miles to Hunt. Hunt is located to the west (right side) of highway 39. Go through Hunt on RR 1340 heading northwest for 12 miles to the Kerr WMA entrance.
