Hiking Permitted

Hiking is an enjoyable activity that is available in many of the Wildlife Management Areas of Texas. Since potable water is not available on many of the Wildlife Management Areas, it is a good idea to bring plenty of drinking water.

The Main Unit of the WMA has two nature trails located at the entrance along with a picnic area. Live Oak Loop, is 0.5 miles of paved trail through a wetland area of live oak, thick undergrowth and various wildlife.

The Jones Creek Trail, 2.5 miles of unimproved path leading into a bottomland area which may contain soggy terrain from flooding. Waterfowl and wood ducks can be observed in this section. Waterproof footwear is recommended.
