To get to the WMA is by boat only, see the Matagorda Island Map and the Matagorda Island WMA Headquarters Complex Map. The Sunday Beach area of Matagorda Island is open to the public for activities with no fees, permits or restrictions.
Biking
Bicycling is a healthy and enjoyable activity that is available in many of the Wildlife Management Areas of Texas.
Biking on Matagorda Island WMA
Biking is a good way to travel on Matagorda Island WMA. During daylight hours only, biking is allowed on the north end of the WMA, closed air runways and headquarters complex, road to the lighthouse and the U.S. Gulf beach. Biking is not allowed while public hunts are in progress on the WMA.
