General Access

All visitor access is by private or chartered boat. There is no state ferry service available. The use of personal motorized vehicles (e.g., aircraft, automobiles, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV), etc.) is not allowed on the island. All interior access is via hiking, biking, or Texas Parks and Wildlife Department vehicles during scheduled hunts or tours.

Permits Required

Waterfowl hunters 17 years of age or older must possess an Annual Public Hunting Permit or Regular Permit. Special Permit hunts may be offered for white-tailed deer and feral hogs. Check the Public Hunting Lands Map booklet, Applications for Drawings on Public Hunting Lands and the Outdoor Annual for the current seasons, species and bag limits. No Annual Public Hunting Permit is needed for fishing or waterfowl hunting in the designated marsh area.
