Impact of Flooding on State Parks, Wildlife and Lost Vessels - July 2025
State Parks
As floodwaters recede across the state, conditions remain dynamic. Some TPWD sites or facilities may be inaccessible. Stay informed and prepared when visiting parks after significant weather events.

Displaced Wildlife
Flooding can temporarily displace wildlife as they seek cover or higher ground. While emergency rescue operations are active, wildlife experts are urging the public to focus on helping people and reporting dangerous conditions of our neighborhoods rather than reporting displaced wildlife. In most instances, wildlife can take care of themselves.
Caution should be used during cleanup efforts, as snakes and other animals may seek shelter in debris piles.

Lost Vessels
Boat owners who have lost a vessel in the recent historic flooding event are encouraged to contact Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Boat Title and Registration Division at (800) 262-8755 or (512) 389-4828 to have a flag placed on their record. Doing so may increase the chances of recovery of the vessel in the event it is located.
