Bastrop State Park is hosting a Prescribed Fire Community Briefing from 6 - 8 p.m., Monday, June 23 at the Bastrop County Community Center located at 15 American Legion Drive Bastrop, TX 78602.

TPWD Presenting About Prescribed Fire at Community Briefing

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will provide a presentation on prescribed fire efforts in Bastrop and Buescher State Parks from 6-8 p.m. June 23 at the Bastrop County Community Center.

The briefing will cover topics including background on the Rolling Pines fire along with findings and TPWD’s implementation of those findings into prescribed-fire efforts.

Rolling Pines Fire

On Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) initiated a prescribed fire at Bastrop State Park that spread beyond the intended fire boundaries.

Once contained and extinguished, an independent panel revealed the findings of TPWD’s strengths and deficiencies during the wildfire event.
