AUSTIN— Today, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved $3.38 million dollars in grants to fund 19 motorized and non-motorized recreational trail-related projects across the state.
AUSTIN – As part of National Safe Boating Week May 19-25, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department boater education and law enforcement are reminding Texans to be safe this summer by following the law and taking basic safety precautions while on the water.
ATHENS— The 2018 Texas Division of the Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art Contest first place winners include Juliann Dooley of Warren for grades 10-12, Madeleine Alexander of Keller for grades 7-9, Lauren Yue of Coppell for grades 4-6, and Sanjitha Yeruva of Irving for grades K-3.
AUSTIN – Texas children and families will have enhanced opportunities to explore the state’s natural resources, thanks to more than $800,000 in 22 grants awarded this year through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Community Outdoor Outreach Program (CO-OP). The grants help fund community-based youth and family outdoors-oriented programs and activities like camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking and service projects.
AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is hosting a TPWD Outdoor Adventures Area May 19-20 by Lake Travis at Jones Brothers Park in Jonestown. At this event visitors of all ages can try fishing, archery and other fun outdoor activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. completely free.

AUSTIN – Sam Rayburn Reservoir produced the final Toyota ShareLunker Legacy Class largemouth bass entry with just hours left in the 2018 donation season March 31. Angler Stacy Spriggs of Huntsville caught the 13.06 pound, 27 inch Legacy Class lunker during the Second Annual Stanley Burgay Memorial Bass Tournament on a Carolina rig in 8 feet of water.
AUSTIN – For the first time in the 32 year history of the program, Kurth Reservoir in Lufkin has produced a Toyota ShareLunker entry. Angler Pablo Torres Jr. of Lufkin caught the 13.34 pound, 26 inch Legacy Class lunker in less than 8 feet of water while fishing with his son-in-law at the lake March 25.
