ATHENS—Lake Austin produced its twentieth Toyota ShareLunker February 21 when Robert Whitehead of Austin caught a 13.19-pound bass while fishing the upper end of the lake.

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is proposing expansion of mule deer hunting in several counties and extending squirrel season into February across parts of East Texas.

TPWD Proposing Seatrout Bag Limit Change, Gar Conservation Rules

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is proposing fishing regulation changes that will affect both salt and freshwater anglers. Some of the most noteworthy include changes to harvest regulations for flounder and spotted seatrout, the rainbow trout fishery on the Guadalupe River below Canyon Lake dam, and additional restrictions on the harvest of alligator gar during critical periods of spawning.

Urban Bobcat Study Underway in Dallas-Fort Worth Area

DALLAS – Researchers, wildlife managers and local government officials from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Utah State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Service-National Wildlife Research Center, and Welder Wildlife Foundation have begun a study on the ecology of bobcats in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

ATHENS—Lake Palestine produced its second Toyota ShareLunker in less than a year Saturday when Casey Laughlin of Rowlett pulled in a 13.22-pound bass while fishing a Media Bass tournament.

Lake Athens Produces Another Toyota ShareLunker

ATHENS—Rip van Winkle slept for 20 years. Lake Athens snoozed for 25. Then the 1,799-acre lake near the East Texas town of the same name awoke from its slumber and began spitting out 13-pound bass.
