AUSTIN — Fifteen lucky sportsmen are making special plans for hunting season as winners of this year’s Big Time Texas Hunts. The hunters were selected by random computer drawing from applicants in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department program.
AUSTIN – If enjoying cool, crisp evenings snuggled up to a crackling campfire or simply pitching a tent beneath the stars with your family sounds appealing, then head to a Texas State Park where you can watch the leaves turn and shooting stars light up the heavens while making lasting memories.

AUSTIN – As autumn arrives and leaves begin to turn, the colorful and unique story of Texas – from its prehistoric times through, Spanish colonialism, the republic’s fight for independence from Mexico, post-Civil War era and into the 20th century – unfolds through guided tours and special events at more than 50 historic sites within the state parks system. And, there’s no better time to experience that history than October.
ATHENS—A record 59 teams entered the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center’s annual Bluegill Family Fishing Tournament September 28, and 26 teams went away with prizes. Every team received a goodie bag.
ATHENS—The Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC), the world championship of professional bass fishing, is bringing the best anglers along with some of the biggest bands in country music to Conroe. Today, tournament officials announced a full lineup of free, family-friendly activities taking place at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center Oct. 4-6 to coincide with the tournament.
AUSTIN – Beginning Thursday, September 19, hunters who need to complete the state’s required hunter education will have expanded contemporary options designed to be more convenient, flexible and accessible.

DENISON–Many people fish the waters of Lake Texoma, but few fish it with a fly rod in hand. To learn the basics of fly fishing, Eisenhower State Park is partnering with the Red River Fly Fishers to present a Learn to Fly Fish Course this Saturday, Sept. 14.
ATHENS—The 28th season of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Toyota ShareLunker program will begin October 1.
