AUSTIN – April is National Volunteer Month, and folks who love state parks, hunting and fishing in Texas have plenty tocelebrate. In 2010, volunteers provided close to 955,000 hours of service worth an estimated $16.9 million to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
ATHENS — Entries from Lake Fork into the Toyota ShareLunker Program have been overshadowed recently by reservoirs in other areas of the state, but the Lake Fork Trophy Bass Survey’s eight-year history shows that Lake Fork should remain on the list of any serious trophy bass hunter.
ATHENS—Life’s better outside, especially during springtime in Texas. And nowhere will it be better on April 9 than at Outdoor Fools Day at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC).
ATHENS—Gilmer Reservoir sent a new lake record largemouth bass to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) March 17, and the next day Caddo Lake sent the existing lake record largemouth to Athens for the second year in a row.
ATHENS—Six weeks ago it looked like no lake in Texas could catch O.H. Ivie in the Toyota ShareLunker race. By January 30 O.H. Ivie had produced four ShareLunkers, and anglers could follow the smoke to the lake.
ATHENS—While fans of college basketball are glued to television sets watching that manifestation of March madness, bass anglers are enjoying a fishy form of the mayhem.
ATHENS—Falcon International Reservoir continued to solidify its status as one of the prime big-bass lakes in Texas March 9 with a 13.56-pound largemouth that became Toyota ShareLunker 517.
ATHENS—Falcon International Reservoir produced its third Toyota ShareLunker of the season, its fourteenth overall and the twelfth entry into the ShareLunker program for the current season March 6.
ATHENS—Just when you thought this Toyota ShareLunker season was going to be all about O.H. Ivie, along comes Lake Austin.
ATHENS — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will be conducting a free hunter education new instructor training workshop Saturday, March 12, 2011, in Waco. The workshop will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 8451 Gholsen Road in Waco.
