La Sal Del Rey National Wildlife Reserve Partners with TPWD to Host 2nd Annual Explore Bowhunting Event

Guidance on Federal Airborne Hunting Act Pertaining to Fishing with Drones

AUSTIN – Due to technological advancements with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), also known as drones, now widely available, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has noticed an increase in questions connected to their use in relation to fishing and wildlife. Some of the most frequent questions have been about the legality of using drones for deploying bait by surf or bank fisherman.

AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will begin accepting applications Dec. 1 for the 69th Texas Game Warden and State Park Police cadet class. The application period will close Dec. 31.

CWD Confirmed at Tom Green County Facility Linked to “Ghost Deer” Investigation

AUSTIN – Two positive cases of chronic wasting disease (CWD) have been confirmed at a Tom Green County deer breeding facility owned by Ken Schlaudt, 64, of San Antonio. The samples, taken from white-tailed deer, were confirmed by both the state and federal laboratories and are the first detections of CWD in the county.
