AUSTIN –Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Community Archery Program is joining forces with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) on Jan. 17 to help the public “Explore Bowhunting” at the La Sal Del Rey National Wildlife Reserve (NWR) in Edinburg.
AUSTIN – Due to technological advancements with Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), also known as drones, now widely available, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has noticed an increase in questions connected to their use in relation to fishing and wildlife. Some of the most frequent questions have been about the legality of using drones for deploying bait by surf or bank fisherman.
AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will begin accepting applications Dec. 1 for the 69th Texas Game Warden and State Park Police cadet class. The application period will close Dec. 31.
AUSTIN – Two positive cases of chronic wasting disease (CWD) have been confirmed at a Tom Green County deer breeding facility owned by Ken Schlaudt, 64, of San Antonio. The samples, taken from white-tailed deer, were confirmed by both the state and federal laboratories and are the first detections of CWD in the county.
Nov. 12, 6:30 p.m.: On the afternoon of Nov. 12, William Poff, 53, of Camilla, was recovered from the Trinity River, south of Lake Livingston Dam by Texas Game Wardens. Our thoughts are with Mr. Poff’s family and the families of the two boys during this difficult time.
