Funeral Services Set for Slain Texas Game Warden

AUSTIN, Texas – Funeral services for Texas Game Warden Justin Hurst have been set for Wednesday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in El Campo. Hurst, 34, was killed in the line of duty on Saturday, March 17.

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials have established 18 unmanned crab trap drop-off sites and ten manned sites for the annual 10-day volunteer crab trap cleanup on Texas bays.

Barnes Named Southeastern Wildlife Officer of 2006

AUSTIN, Texas — Game Warden Gary Barnes of Fritch north of Amarillo has been named the “Texas Officer of the Year” for 2006 by the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA). On Jan. 25, Barnes received special recognition for the award from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.

Volunteers Sought For Crab Trap Clean-Up Feb. 16-25

AUSTIN, Texas — Hoping to add to the mountain of the 19,930 derelict crab traps hauled from Texas bays over the last five years, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials are gearing up for the 6th Texas Abandoned Crab Trap Removal Program, running this year from February 16-25.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Coastal Fisheries division will host five scoping meetings the first and second weeks of January to discuss proposed changes to saltwater fishing regulations in 2007.

TPWD Unveils Slate of Possible Regulation Changes

AUSTIN, Texas — Among the possible changes in hunting and fishing regulations next year, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is considering altering restrictions on spotted seatrout in the Lower Laguna Madre and a 16-inch maximum length limit on largemouth bass on a handful of lakes.
