HOUSTON — On May 6, more than 100 Golbow Elementary School students will leave the classroom behind, pick up fishing poles, and learn about nature and the outdoors through hands-on experience. It’s an example of how conservation proponents statewide are trying to introduce urban youth to the outdoor environment through fishing.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – It seemed like a good day for hunting: crystal blue sky, a cold front had just come through. When Game Warden Michael McCall found a deer feeder about 100 yards into the undeveloped property on Eagle Mountain Lake, he realized it might be a good day to catch poachers as well.

AUSTIN, Texas — Hoping to add to the pile of more than 15,000 lost and abandoned crab traps hauled from Texas bays during the last three years, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials are gearing up for another round of cleanups, and this time the closed season is from Feb. 18-27. Weather-permitting, Feb. 19 is the day for the main volunteer cleanup effort.
