Habitat Improvement Projects Building Better Fishing on Brazos River Basin Reservoirs

AUSTIN — Thanks to collaboration between the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), Brazos River Authority (BRA) and other supporters and volunteers, new habitat enhancements designed to provide better fishing opportunities and improve habitat for a variety of fish species are now in place at Lake Granbury, Possum Kingdom Lake, and Proctor Lake.

Target Range Development Grants Available through TPWD

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is currently accepting applications for target range development grants through Nov. 30, 2016. Construction or enhancements of public ranges are eligible to be considered for these competitive grants, made available through funding from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park Completes Joint Construction Project with the Texas Department of Transportation

CANYON— A new camping area with amenities and a series of bridges across flash-flooding hazards on park roadways at Palo Duro Canyon State Park were unveiled Thursday morning during an event highlighting completion of a joint project between the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

Waterfowl Hunting Season Gets Underway

AUSTIN – Waterfowlers will be looking to the north for help as duck and goose hunting seasons kick off this week under less than ideal conditions. A lack of cold weather has delayed the winter migration once again this year, according to field observations by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists.
