AUSTIN— Texas Game Wardens are filing several Class B misdemeanor charges on 10 restaurants and markets in the Houston and Dallas area for selling shark fins and shark fin products.
AUSTIN —Each February for 18 years, countless volunteers spend 10 days on the water along the Texas coastline searching the bays for abandoned crab traps left to foul shrimpers’ nets, snag anglers’ lines, “ghost fish,” and create unsightly views. To date, they’ve hauled off more than 36,000 of these derelict traps.
LA PORTE— The Battleship TEXAS Foundation (BTF) is now accepting proposals for the selection of a home port for the Battleship TEXAS after it returns from major repairs. The request for proposal (RFP) opened Jan. 21.
AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has approved changes to the Managed Lands Deer Program (MLDP), which provides landowners and land managers with additional flexibility to manage deer populations, improve habitats, and provide greater hunting opportunities under the guidance of department biologists. The approved changes include clarifying existing program provisions and establishing fees for participation in the growing program.

AUSTIN— The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (TPW) recognized two K-9 wardens and two game wardens during today’s meeting for their contributions and efforts supporting the agency mission.
MATHIS – On Saturday, Jan. 25, the park rangers at Lake Corpus Christi State Park will be hosting its 28th annual kid fish event as an opportunity for new anglers to learn how to fish.
ATHENS – The Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame committee announced Shane Wilson, retired public educator and founder of Fishing’s Future, will be inducted into the hall of fame in 2020.
AUSTIN— Visitors from every corner of the state headed to a Texas State Park on Jan. 1 to help usher in the new decade with a First Day Hike in a big way. The roaring 20’s were welcomed by 5,242 people who hiked, biked and rode a total of 9,564 miles statewide.
AUSTIN – In 2019, anglers entered 327 lunker bass over 8 pounds in the Toyota ShareLunker program from 88 lakes across the state. In addition to helping produce bigger, better bass for Texas lakes, anglers who enter their big bass catches in the program receive special recognition and prizes, including an entry into a year-end drawing to win a $5,000 Bass Pro Shops shopping spree and an annual fishing license.
