TPWD Purchases 630 Acres Adjacent to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area

AUSTIN — Thanks to a recent acquisition by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), 630 acres in the Texas Hill County have been preserved adjacent to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. The property, which had the potential to hold a subdivision with hundreds of new homes, will now become a part of Enchanted Rock’s iconic park, offering new recreational opportunities at one of the most popular and visited sites in the state.

AUSTIN— September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and 16 Texas State Parks will be hosting hikes to shed light on this issue, which affects many veterans and their loved ones. The Veteran Suicide Awareness Ruck Hike, an annual event organized by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Veteran’s Liaison Nicole Mechler, allows families, friends and veterans to network and build a support system, as well as spread the word about veteran-specific mental health issues.
