AUSTIN — From Oct. 6-22, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will kick off the eighth annual Texas Pollinator BioBlitz, celebrating the bees, wasps, butterflies, moths, beetles, flies, hummingbirds, nectar-feeding bats, and other animals that serve as pollinators across Texas.
AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), in conjunction with the Minority Outdoor Alliance (MOA), will host the third-annual Minority Outdoor Festival Oct. 13-14 at McKinney Roughs Nature Park in Cedar Creek.
ATHENS — The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) is excited to announce the 2024 Texas division of Wildlife Forever’s Fish Art Contest is open for submissions. The Fish Art Contest, which is accepting entries until Feb. 28, is part of an international conservation education program designed to foster youth interest in fisheries and fishing.
AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is encouraging Texans to bring their family and friend into the outdoors to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on Saturday. National Hunting and Fishing Day, celebrated on the fourth Saturday of every September, recognizes hunters and anglers for their contributions and leadership to wildlife and conservation.
AUSTIN —Fall hunting kicked off this month with the start of dove season, but it’s never too late to learn the skill and value hunting brings to Texas wildlife through upcoming hunter education classes. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Hunter Education Program offers in-person learning events through the end of February, which combine a classroom course with beginner hunting opportunities in the field with experts.
LAKE JACKSON— The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is teaming up with Special Olympics of Texas to host a fishing tournament at Sea Center Texas for Special Olympians.
AUSTIN— Texas Game Wardens patrolling water bodies across the state noticed an increase in water-related fatalities and boating accidents compared to last year’s Labor Day holiday weekend.
AUSTIN – Opening day of teal hunting season is slated for Saturday, Sept. 9, and despite dry conditions throughout much of the state, Texas hunters will still have opportunities to harvest birds.
AUSTIN—With the summer boating season winding down, many Texans are making plans to escape the unrelenting heat by hitting the water one last time. This holiday weekend, Texas Game Wardens are joining local law enforcement to patrol Texas lakes and rivers and remind everyone spending time around the water to follow basic safety precautions.
