Wildlife Conservationists Partner To Restore Bald Eagle Nest

FORT WORTH, Texas — Wednesday, a bald eagle nest located in the northern Texas Panhandle received a much needed restoration thanks to a statewide partnership of university and state wildlife experts and zoos. The group partnered to build an artificial nest and perch for a pair of bald eagles that has made the area home for the past several years. Biologists feared that if the nest was not restored, the eagle pair, which mates for life, would lose this nesting habitat.

AUSTIN, Texas — Among the possible changes in hunting and fishing regulations next year, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is considering altering restrictions on spotted seatrout in the Lower Laguna Madre and a 16-inch maximum length limit on largemouth bass on a handful of lakes.

Public Hearings Set for Offshore Aquaculture and Private Artificial Reef Regs

Hunter’s Choice Approved for Waterfowl Season

AUSTIN, Texas — The Hunter’s Choice experiment option for the Central Flyway gained approval from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and gives Texas waterfowlers more latitude during the entire season in exchange for a reduction to the daily bag limit from six to five birds.

Meeting Set on Lease of New Outdoor Recreation Land

CROWELL, Texas — The general public is invited to attend and provide comments on the proposed lease to Foard and Hardeman Counties of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lands known as the Crowell Brine Lake property. The 12,000-acre parcel of land is located northwest of the Town of Crowell in Foard County and is currently managed by the Corps as part of the Red River Chloride Control Project.
