Game Warden Cadets Finish 6-Month Academy

AUSTIN, Texas — The 51st Game Warden Class graduated Friday and all 35 reported to their new posts across the state. This is Texas Parks and Wildlife's most diverse game warden class ever.

Recent Legislation Affects Texas Wildlife, Parks

AUSTIN, Texas — New limited-entry management programs for the Texas oyster and Gulf of Mexico shrimp fisheries, changes in game bird stamps hunters are required to buy, creation of an all-terrain vehicle trail program and new or clarified enforcement powers for game wardens are among the outcomes of bills passed by the 79th Texas Legislature.

Boating Season Kicks Off With Warning About Boating While Drunk

UNDATED — With the arrival of National Safe Boating Week (May 21-27), Boating While Intoxicated arrests are up statewide. Statewide, there were 193 BWI arrests in 2003 and in 2004, there were 279.

Authorities Suggest Ways for Living With Alligators

HOUSTON — As Texas residents expand their homes and businesses into alligator country, encounters between these normally shy reptiles and humans are increasing. And late spring through summer is alligator mating and nesting season, when gators are more likely to be visible.
