La Expo Parques Y Vida Silvestre De Texas Se Celebra El 6 Y 7 De Octubre

AUSTIN, Texas — El festival de campismo y actividades al aire libre más grande de Estados Unidos es un evento gratuito para toda la familia que se celebrará el 6 y 7 de octubre en el Departamento de Parques y Vida Silvestre de Texas (TPWD por sus siglas en inglés) en Austin. El evento cuenta con nuevas diversiones y las populares actividades que en años anteriores han atraído a más de 35,000 asistentes.

1st Alamo Extravaganza “Celebration of Choices” Sept. 15 in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — Turning Point, San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Texas Wildlife Association and other partners will host the 1st Alamo Extravaganza “Celebration of Choices” Sep. 15 in San Antonio, providing a setting for people with disabilities to experience fishing, climbing, shooting, kayaking and many other outdoor activities.

Boating Fatalities Up Over Same Period Last Year

AUSTIN, Texas—Texas boating fatalities for the first five months of 2007 are up over the previous three years, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reports show. State game wardens say the increase underscores the need for boater education and shows why TPWD and its partners are this summer launching the Nobody’s Waterproof™ public awareness effort statewide.

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Executive Director Robert L. Cook today announced his intention to retire Aug. 31. Cook has been executive director since February 2002 and has spent the majority of his professional career at the agency.

Seguin Coliseum To Host Funeral for Game Warden Ty Patterson

AUSTIN, Texas — Funeral and visitation services for Game Warden Teyran “Ty” Patterson will take place in Seguin Sunday and Monday, with more than 1,000 people expected to attend. A benefit fund has also been set up at a Seguin bank for donations to support the Patterson family.

One Year Later, Compliance ‘Good’ on Seagrass Regulation

ROCKPORT, Texas — A year after the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission made it illegal to uproot seagrasses with a submerged propeller within the boundaries of the Redfish Bay State Scientific Area, local game wardens are calling compliance with the regulation “good.”

Texas Game Warden Dies During Search-and-Rescue Operation

GLEN ROSE, Texas — Texas Game Warden Teyran "Ty" Patterson, 28, died in the line of duty Wednesday, May 30 during a search-and-rescue operation on the Paluxy River near here. Patterson drowned after his boat capsized in floodwaters. He was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth and pronounced dead there Wednesday morning.
