Anglers Reminded of Regulation Changes on Shared Waters with Louisiana

AUSTIN – Louisiana and Texas have taken a big step to share consistent recreational fishing regulations governing their bordering waters. The new regulations are scheduled to go into effect on Sept. 1, 2011. Biologists from the two states have agreed upon regulations that are biologically sound and consistent on both sides of the boundary.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Manages 21.5 Percent Cut in 2012 Budget

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission today approved a 2012 budget that reflects a 21.5 percent cut in Texas Parks and Wildlife Department funding over the next two years. The agency is trying to limit impacts on the public involving state parks, fisheries and wildlife, and leaders say there are ways people can help.

Conroe– The Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC) will once again bring a stellar lineup of country music artists to Conroe, and this year it is free! The Toyota Texas Bass Classic will take place Oct. 28-30 at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center and concerts will be headlined by Billy Currington on Friday, Oct. 28, Pat Green on Saturday, Oct. 29, and Robert Earl Keen on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Galveston Bay Oyster Restoration Expanding

HOUSTON – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has hired Apollo Environmental Strategies of Beaumont to distribute more than 70,000 cubic yards of oyster reef building materials (called “cultch”) over six natural, publicly owned oyster reefs in Galveston Bay.
