State-Fish Art Expo Coming to Texas

ATHENS, Texas-The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) has agreed to host the 2010 national State-Fish Art expo next July.

Work on East Texas Fish Hatchery Progress Hampered by Pipe Failure

AUSTIN — One year into the construction phase of the new $27 million Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) fish hatchery near Jasper, work is about 30 percent complete, although weather delays and infrastructure issues have created significant construction challenges. The project is currently about six months behind schedule due to the effects of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike and problems with the massive drain pipes that carry water from the ponds.

Galveston Bay Oyster Reef Restoration Gets Underway

HOUSTON — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has begun construction on two oyster reef restoration projects in Galveston Bay funded by multi-million dollar federal grants to restore hurricane damage. One project is in East Galveston Bay, an area hit hard by Hurricane Ike. The other project is located along the north facing shoreline of Eagle Point near the community of San Leon.

LAKE CONROE, Texas — The Toyota Texas Bass Classic, a Professional Anglers Association (PAA) sanctioned event, is only one month away from its debut on Lake Conroe.
