TPWD, Yeti, Army Corp of Engineers Team Up to Install Fish Habitat at Granger Lake

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), Yeti and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently partnered to enhance fish habitat at Granger Lake. Yeti accepted more than 160 donated Christmas trees at its flagship store in Austin and TPWD Inland Fisheries biologists and technicians transported the trees to the lake, where they were installed as reefs to provide fish habitat.

TPWD Seeks Input on Proposed Changes to Spotted Seatrout Bag, Size Limits

AUSTIN- The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is seeks public input on proposed rules which, if passed, would change bag and size limits for spotted seatrout on the Texas coast. The proposed rules would reduce the spotted seatrout bag limit to three fish and restrict the allowable size to 15-20 inches, with one fish over 25 inches allowed daily.

TPWD Opening Two Oyster Harvest Areas, Closing One in Matagorda Bay

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will open TX-19 and TX-20 in Matagorda Bay to commercial and recreational oyster harvest beginning at 12:01 a.m. Dec. 13. At the same time, the department will close TX-13 in Matagorda Bay.

Tim Birdsong Named Next Inland Fisheries Division Director

AUSTIN – Tim Birdsong has been selected as Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) next Inland Fisheries Division director. Birdsong has served as interim division director since July, following the promotion of Craig Bonds to chief operating officer.

Rainbow Trout Fishing Heading to a Waterbody Near You

AUSTIN— The annual Texas winter tradition of rainbow trout stocking returns to waterbodies across the state to kick off the holiday season. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will stock thousands of rainbow trout beginning the week of Thanksgiving to give anglers a chance to catch one of these iconic fish.

Red Snapper Fishing Closes in State Waters November 20

AUSTIN- The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will close red snapper fishing in state waters on Monday, Nov. 20, at 11:59 p.m. until January 2024. Federal waters remain closed until the summer.
