AUSTIN – Since 2002, thousands of anglers have contributed more than $675,420 to improve fishing in Texas by purchasing the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s largemouth bass conservation license plate (CLP). But many anglers may not know exactly how that money directly benefits their favorite fishing hole.

Kurth Reservoir Produces First Toyota ShareLunker Bass

AUSTIN – For the first time in the 32 year history of the program, Kurth Reservoir in Lufkin has produced a Toyota ShareLunker entry. Angler Pablo Torres Jr. of Lufkin caught the 13.34 pound, 26 inch Legacy Class lunker in less than 8 feet of water while fishing with his son-in-law at the lake March 25.

TPWD Reminds Texans to ‘Clean, Drain and Dry’ as Boating Season Heats Up

AUSTIN – As sunny days and warm weather kick off spring boating season, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) inland fisheries and law enforcement staff are urging boaters to fight back against the aquatic invasive species that threaten Texas lakes.

West Texas Lake Produces 13.40 pound ShareLunker Bass

AUSTIN – For the first time in more than 28 years, Twin Buttes Reservoir near San Angelo has produced a Toyota ShareLunker largemouth bass exceeding 13 pounds. Angler Austin Terry of San Angelo caught the 13.40 pound, 25 ¾ inch Legacy Class lunker on a Santone spinnerbait ½ ounce red river special in less than 4 feet of water at the lake March 14.

TPWD Increases King Mackerel Recreational Bag Limit

AUSTIN –The king mackerel recreational bag limit increases from two to three fish per person, per day on Friday, March 16, 2018. In January, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopted a temporary exception that increases the daily bag limit of king mackerel from two to three fish in state water. This exception is effective until Aug. 31, 2018 at which time a new statewide regulation currently under review may also increase the daily bag limit from two to three fish.

Lake Fork Does It Again: Third Toyota ShareLunker of Season

AUSTIN – For the third time in less than two weeks, Lake Fork has delivered what many anglers dream about for a lifetime – a 13-pound-plus Toyota ShareLunker largemouth bass. For angler Alex Finch, who landed the 13.06 pound Legacy Class largemouth bass during a solo fishing trip March 11, the catch checked off a “bucket list” item he’s been aiming at for years.

Lake Fork Delivers Two 13lb+ ShareLunker Bass In One Week

AUSTIN –The second Legacy Class largemouth bass of the 2018 Toyota ShareLunker season came out of the big bass hot spot Lake Fork March 8. Angler Michael Terrebonne of Cut Off, Louisiana caught the 13.00lb, 25-inch largemouth bass in 6ft of water during an annual family trip to the lake.

Free Fishing for Spring Breakers at the Tyler Nature Center

TYLER – Warm weather is great for spring breakers looking to get outside after a winter hibernating indoors, but its bad news for winter-loving rainbow trout who thrive in the colder water.
