Copano Bay and Areas of Galveston Bay to be Closed to Oyster Harvest

Austin – Areas TX-1 (East Approved Area) and TX-4 in Galveston Bay will be closed to all oyster harvest on Nov. 1 and TX-32 (Copano Bay) will be closed on Nov. 3 due to low abundance of oysters in these areas.

Halloween at the Hatchery Coming Up October 29

ATHENS—The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center will host the annual Halloween at the Hatchery the evening of Thursday, October 29.

Bush Presidential Center in Dallas this morning when Former First Lady and Founder of Texan By Nature Laura Bush, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Executive Director Carter Smith, Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Dan Ashe, and President and CEO Collin O’Mara of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) unveiled a conservation plan to help sustain native pollinators and their survival in Texas.

GULF COAST — The Deepwater Horizon oil spill Natural Resource Damage Assessment Trustees (Trustees) propose a comprehensive, integrated, ecosystem restoration plan for the Gulf of Mexico. The draft plan is based on an assessment of impacts to the Gulf’s natural resources—and on the services those resources provide—following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Texas Game Wardens Out in Force for Labor Day Weekend

AUSTIN — Texas game wardens will be patrolling the state’s public waters this Labor Day Weekend to make sure all boaters, anglers and swimmers get home safely. They will be on the lookout for boat operators who have had too much to drink.
