TPWD Seeks Public Comment About Proposed Regulation Changes

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is considering altering hunting and fishing regulations that could increase opportunity and simplify rules.

TPWD Looking at Potential Expansion of Buck Restrictions

AUSTIN, Texas — Experimental buck deer harvest regulations in six- Post Oak Savannah counties are helping create a healthy deer population, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologists and affected landowners and hunters. Harvest pressure of young bucks has decreased significantly during the past 3 years, and the increase in mature bucks available for harvest has pleased many hunters.

Reminder: Active Duty National Guard Can Get Resident Hunting, Fishing Licenses

AUSTIN, Texas – In what’s shaping up to be the largest troop deployment since Vietnam, many from the National Guard are being deployed and if you have been called up and you’re not a resident of Texas, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department wants you to know that you and your dependents qualify for a resident hunting and or fishing license. Hunting season just began and if you need a break before shipping off, TPWD wants to help give you one.

Pair of Firefighters Claim Desert Bighorn Sheep Hunts

AUSTIN, Texas — There may not be “fire on the mountain” in the Trans Pecos this winter, but there will be two firefighters there anyway. Instead of fighting fires and smoke and rescuing folks, they’ll be hunting desert bighorn sheep after being selected for a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department hunt giveaway in a random computer drawing among licensed hunters in Texas.

Landowners Need License To Conduct Hunts

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department would like to remind landowners that a hunting lease license is required for certain hunting operations. The owner of a hunting lease or the landowner’s agent may not receive pay or anything of value from hunters unless the owner or agent has acquired a hunting lease license from the department. This law applies to all hunting leases.
